IELTS (International English Language Testing
System) is a test
designed to assess English language skills.
Overview
There are
to modules to IELTS: Academic and General Training. While taking IELTS
Academic module is a common requirement for entry to tertiary educational establishments
(colleges and universities), the General Training module is selected by those
wishing to undertake secondary school education or take part in immigration
programs.
Each module
consists of four parts: Listening
(the same for the two modules), Reading
(Academic or General Training), Writing
(Academic or General Training), and Speaking
(the same for the two modules).
Results
IELTS results
are shown in a Test Report Form, where they are presented as bands ranging from
1 to 9 (including half-bands, e.g. 7.5). In your Test Report Form you will find
both your total score and individual scores for each part of the test.
